The Bahraini Dinar has a fascinating history that reflects its global ties. Introduced in 1965 to replace the Gulf Rupee, the Dinar has held strong as one of the most valuable currencies in the world. It’s pegged to the US Dollar at a stable rate, giving it a reputation for reliability.

Bahraini notes and coins
Each BHD is divided into 1,000 fils.
Coins are made out of bronze and nickel, and come in 5c, 10c, 25c, 50c and 100c Bahraini coins.
There’s also a 500c coin currently still in circulation, although it was discontinued in 2011 and is slowly disappearing from the local currency.
For larger purchases, Bahraini banknotes are available in $½, $1, $5, $10 and $20 denominations.
