How do I send money?
Is it your first time using the MoneyGram money transfer service? Not to worry - it's super easy and will take you no time at all! Firstly, use our store locator to find your nearest store, as you will need to visit one of our Travel Money NZ consultants.
At a time convenient to you, head on over to the store, bringing the money you need to send and either your passport, drivers license or national identification card^. Please also bring with you a proof of address, i.e. utlities or rates notice, bank statement or overseas drivers license.
At the store, you can then complete your send in 3 easy steps:
- Complete the "send" form.
Fill in all of the details on the form, and give it to your consultant.
- Pay for your transaction.
Pass the money you want to send, plus the transaction fee†, over to your consultant, along with your ID. This will allow them to process your order.
- Receive a receipt.
Once your order is processed, you will be given a receipt and a transaction reference number. For your records, we recommend keeping both. Just share the reference number with the person you are sending the money to so they can pick it up on their end.
And, you're done - wasn't that easy?
Receiving a money transfer from your loved ones is just as easy and convenient as sending one to them.
Once your friend or family member has completed their transaction at their closest MoneyGram location, they can send you the reference number and with MoneyGram's same day service, your money can arrive at your nearest Travel Money NZ store in as little as 10 minutes*.
When you go to pick up your money, make sure you bring along your passport, drivers license or national identification card with you^. Please also bring with you a proof of address, i.e. utlities or rates notice, bank statement.
Then, using your reference number, complete the "receive" form in store, include your reference number and show your consultant your ID.
Once this is all verified, you will receive your money in New Zealand dollars.
Can I send money to a bank account?
If you are sending money from New Zealand to India, China, Sri Lanka or the Philippines, then yes you can!
Just visit your nearest Travel Money NZ store, bringing your money & ID with you, and fill in the send form, selecting "Account Deposit" as the receive option.
Also make sure you bring the bank name; name on the account; the account number and a mobile number for the recipient.
Once your transaction is processed by our consultant, you will receive your receipt and reference number, and the recipient will be able to check their bank account to make sure the money went through.
